What is Friendship Day? Human beings are social creatures and have always valued the importance of friends in their lives. To celebrate this noble feeling, it was deemed fit to have a day dedicated to friends and friendship. Accordingly, the first Sunday of August was declared as a holiday in the United States in honor of friends, by a Proclamation made by the US Congress in 1935. Since then, World Friendship Day has been celebrated every year on the first Sunday in the month of August.

On Monday, August 22, teachers planned classroom activities and read stories related to friendship. The remainder of the week involved Color Day, Team Spirit Day, and North County T-Shirt Day.
