The members of the GFWC Antelope-North County Women’s Club want to thank everyone who shopped at our booth during the Antelope Community Sale on August 14th. We loved meeting each & every one of you, and with your help we will be able to continue with our projects such as “Operation Top Knot”- the baby showers through the mail for our military families each month, Penny Pines - the reforesting of public lands after fires and our October Event for Teens.

October 9th will be our next big project. We are putting on a seminar concerning “Violence in Teen Dating”. We are lining up the speakers and hope to have some someone speak from each of our three local high schools. Adrienne Bankert from the Channel 3 KCRA morning news will be the Master of Ceremonies. We also have Carla Numan, the Director of the Citrus Heights Domestic Violence Program including the shelter, Harmony House. The program will run from 1:30pm to 3pm. We are serving refreshments including pizza, cookies and ice tea. Everyone is welcome and we hope to see you there.

The aim of this seminar is to help teens, parents and grandparents to understand what violence can occur in a dating relationship is, what resources are out there for anyone female or male, who are in a violent relationship, and what the signs are the a loved one is in a violent relationship and what steps that you can take to help that loved one. Our September 11th meeting will be at the new and improved Perko’s Café located on Watt Ave just north of Elverta Road. The meeting starts at 1:30pm and should end by 2:45pm.
