Saturday September 4, 2010, 6852 Dry Creek Rd. Rio Linda at the Dry Creek Ranch House

The Rio Linda/Elverta Historical Society’s 5th Annual Classic Car Show on the grounds of the beautiful Dry Creek Ranch House in Rio Linda will include a Swap Meet again this year. The Labor Day Car Show was first held in 2006. It was such a terrific success with over 100 cars showing that first year that the Society made a tradition out of the Labor Day Car Show. The shows continued to expand each year. Admission to the grounds is free for all spectators.

Gates open at “daybreak” for the Swap Meet. It is only $10 for a 10 x 20 space in the swap meet area. Those elusive parts might just be there so bring what you have and see what you can find. Call Al Akin for Swap Meet information at 916-991-5212.

Car Show registration opens at 7:00 a.m. Everyone is welcome to bring a vehicle including trucks and motorcycles. Registration is $20 pre-registered or $25 at the gate for any vehicle entered in the car show. Those entering on show day should plan to have their vehicles registered and ready to show by 9:00 a.m. The Rio Linda High School ROTC will perform the opening flag ceremony at 9:00 a.m. to kick off the show. Trophies, plaques and awards for a wide variety of categories will be given out. The People’s Choice Trophy will be decided by the spectator votes.

The Historical Society has designated the proceeds from the Classic Car Show for the continued operations and expenses of the Historical Society including the Dry Creek Ranch House Museum.

The Society will have Fire Engine #7, a 1949 Dodge Power Wagon in original condition on display along with Sac. Metro Fire Department's Old Betsy, the first Rio Linda Fire Truck.

There will be plenty of food, games and music as well as raffle prizes. For more information please call Tom at (916) 796-5729 or Ray at (916) 991-4744.
