NOT FOUND: grandparents.jpgGrandparents Day is coming up on September 12th, the first Sunday after Labor Day. If you think about it, grandparent’s lives tend to revolve around their children and grandchildren. Everywhere they go, they are talking about how Johnny just graduated high school, and how Suzie made the lead role in this year’s Christmas pageant. You could say they never stop bragging about them. Well, this year, September 12th is one time of the year we can dedicate a whole day to our grandparents. If you don’t have anything planned yet, here are some ideas:

• Bring the family together and pull out the family photo album. Relish the days of weekend camping trips, or backyard BBQs.
• Get the kids photographed and send them pictures of their grandchildren.
• Buy Grandpa a nice pen with an engraving and Grandma a pretty corsage with her favorite flower. It will remind them of you when Grandpa does his morning paper crossword and Grandma will have another excuse to talk about her grandkids.
• Tell your grandparents your favorite memory of when they took you somewhere, or your favorite birthday present you got from them.

Now you might say “I no longer have grandparents”, or “I haven’t spoken to my grandparents in years.” Well I have a solution - adopt some. There are grandparents out there who don’t have their children or grandchildren to celebrate with. It might not be exactly the same, but it will let them know that they still are loved and cared for by someone. It will let them know they still deserve to be celebrated.
It doesn’t take a lot for grandparents to feel special. Do something for them this year to show them how much you appreciate them, and acknowledge how much you love them!
