The Rio Linda Elverta Recreation and Park District Aqua Knights Swim Team recently concluded the most successful season in the team’s short four-year history. With a 2nd place in the Nugget Conference and a 3rd place finish at the Conference championships, the year was highlighted by the following accomplishments:
James Pearson was the overall high point winner at the Conference Championship week-end hosted by Rio Linda Elverta. He scored an amazing total of 66 points.
The Aqua Knights team also broke 9 league records: Donegan, Hawes, Peterson, and Duque broke the 9-10 girls 100-yd medley Relay record, Amity Robbins broke the 7-8 year old girls record in the 25-yard breast stroke, Maya Hawes broke the 9-10 girls 25-yard breast stroke, Anjelica Peterson broke the 9-10 girls 25-yard back stroke and the 25-yard butterfly records and James Pearson Broke the 11-12 boys 50-yard freestyle and 50-yard breast stroke conference records. Highlighting the final event of the championships, our 15-18 boys’ relay of Scott, Liakounitchva, Canizalez, and Hetherington broke the conference medley relay and free relay.
Top qualifiers from the Conference Championships were invited to the Nor Cal Meet of Champions in Woodland. The following Aqua Knights competed against the best of the best and led the team to a 18th place finish in the small division of 32 teams. Many of our swimmers won their individual heats and performed in the finals.
