This year’s 3rd annual Welcome and Wellness Event offered something for every Twin Rivers employee. Held later in the school year this year by employee request, the event boasted more than 50 participating wellness vendors and even more door prizes. The prizes included a $100 Visa card, several $25 gift cards for Office Depot and local restaurants, Rivercats baseball tickets, and a George Foreman Grill.

More than 500 Twin Rivers’ employees attended the annual event and visited with benefit providers, health clubs, student academy representatives, and other local businesses. One of the most highly prized items was the first ever Twin Rivers coffee mug, sponsored by Schools Insurance Authority.

Employees also got the chance to taste the food that is regularly served to Twin Rivers’ students, including whole wheat pizza and breakfast muffins and scones. Additional food experiences included a huge carved produce display, Chobani yogurt, fruit smoothies, and healthy cooking sessions.

The Smythe Academy drum line showed off their musical talents with a march around the central office accompanied by Dinger, the Rivercats mascot. They ended their performance in the board room with Dinger showing off some dance skills.

There were multiple health checkpoints, including blood pressure stations and chair massages. The American Red Cross reported that they discovered a number of employees with high blood pressure who weren’t aware before the event.

The event was planned and implemented by representatives from a variety of central office departments. Special thanks go to the planning committee, event sponsors, and the variety of business partners that participated in providing a fun, morale boosting event for all.
