On October 28, 29 and 30, Serna Village at McClellan Park is going to be turned into a haunt for ghosts, ghouls and goblins, all for a very good cause. Serna Village is a transitional living program for previously homeless families, and participants are getting their creative juices flowing to create our Haunted House to raise funds for our Resident Council. Serna Village is part of Cottage Housing (CHI) which is a non-profit organization that creates healing communities where people help themselves - and each other - transform their homeless nightmare into The American Dream.

Serna Village was CHI’s second project, and the county’s first, and now largest, long-term supportive program for homeless families. Located in McClellan Park, this healing community accommodates 83 families and gives over 200 children a place to call “home” and engage in healthy and educational activities in the SKYLAB Youth Development Program.

The money raised from our Night of Terror Haunted House makes it possible for us to assist residents in purchasing college books and supplies, work necessities, as well as giving us an opportunity to plan activities with our children over the holidays. Resident Council funds also support our Ambassadorship team in their efforts to make Serna Village known in our community through volunteering and presentations made by our
residents, telling their stories about how Serna has helped to break the cycle of homelessness for them.

So come on out with the family, get scared, and support a good cause!
