Kennedy Center teaching artists Sean and Melanie Layne led three workshops for Twin Rivers Unified and Sacramento City Unified School Districts in October. The workshops allowed participants to delve into a variety of arts areas from a student’s perspective.
Local artists, community members, after school providers, teachers, administrators, and school board members were trained as a team on the benefits and necessity of Arts Integration as a core component for student achievement. Participants also received hands-on experience implementing arts integration activities that will allow them to include the arts in many other subjects.
Twin Rivers is partnering with Mayor Kevin Johnson's Any Given Child Initiative, Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission, and the Mondavi Center to ensure that children in our community receive a full arts education.
