Our members put on a great event to help with the awareness of the problems many teens are facing in the dating world especially with a violent partner. We had three great speakers talk about the ways their groups can help teens and their parents with a wide range of issues. The California Youth Crisis Hotline is 1-800-843-5200 24/7 for help or call 1-800-339-7177 24/7 for help with domestic violence issues.

Have you adopted a Shelter Pet yet? Pets from shelters make the best friends. The American Humane Society has a goal that will have us thinking about sheltered pets first when we need or want a new pet. They have a wonderful web site called www.adoptashellterpet.org . It comes complete with talking animals, specifically a large shaggy dog that helps you get around the site. You can put in your zip code and what type of an animal you want: dog or cat, large or small, fluffy or short hair, and the results will be pets up for adoption in your area matching your request.

NOT FOUND: shelter pet2.jpgThe USPS has great adopt a shelter pet postage stamps with photos of real life dogs and cats. The grey kitty is named Willow and had a starring role in Animal Planets “Cats 101”. The Ellen DeGeneres show unveiled these cute stamps on March 17, 2010. The stamps went on sale on May 4, 2010. If your local post office doesn’t have the stamps, they may be ordered from www.usps.com . The stamps can also be ordered with matching note cards on the USPS site. By adopting a shelter pet you are helping to find homes for animals that may not find forever homes.
