In a passionate effort to prevent the dramatic budget cuts from directly affecting the future of our youth and our country any longer, several families with the support and cooperation of the Center Joint Unified School District are holding an S.O.S. Fundraising Event beginning Friday May 7th at 6p.m. and continuing throughout the weekend, ending Sunday May 9th at 8p.m. You will find the S.O.S. Event in front of the Umpqua Bank in the Bel Air Shopping Center, at the corner of Walerga and Elverta Rd.

Joe Campbell and his 13 year old son Luke have committed to staying elevated in the air in a cherry picker for the entire three days in order to raise awareness and funds to help save our teachers.

We will have food, fun & music so please come out, and show our teachers that our community supports them.

An account has been set up at Umpqua Bank, and all monies collected will be directly deposited into this account. Umpqua Bank has been a vital partner in this endeavor and they are even going to extend their banking hours into the night during the fundraising event weekend to accommodate all donations. All funds will go directly to the school district with requirements that they be used to first save all of our teachers and class size reduction programs, and then save additional worthy programs as funds will allow.

We are reaching out to corporations, because this is not a small endeavor, we need approximately $2 MILLION DOLLARS, but I am confident that together, with your help, we can reach our goal. If you have information on specific contact information for company contributions, please contact Cindy Campbell via email: sos.cusd@yahoo.com and to find out more about sponsorship opportunities, and the publicity we can offer companies. For verification you may contact the CJUSD Superintendent Mr. Loehr at (916) 338-6400.

Donations BIG & SMALL will add up and all donations are tax deductible with the CJUSD 501 (3)(c) endowment fund. All donations will be publicized, and depending on the size of your donation, we will offer additional sponsorship/publicity opportunities at our school sites and district events for the entire year (or longer).

We have also applied for a grant from Raley’s and can use your help. Go to http://www.raleys.com/cfapps/reach/nomination.cfm?ideaid=1412050 and vote!

Thank you in advance for stepping up and realizing that our youth's education is worth your time and donation.
