Sacramento Introduces an Innovative Funding Program to
Help Local Schools Raise Money

Sacramento, Calif. –March 24, 2010– Sacramento welcomes Learning Point Rewards, a dynamic and innovative funding program recently registered with the State Attorney General’s Office. The program not only provides schools with funding, but students with rewards and local business with loyal customers, while at the same time utilizing the talents and resources of real estate agents in the community.

In light of California’s current economic crisis and major cuts to education funding, the program could not have arrived at a better time. Learning Point Rewards provides a way for schools to receive a percentage of everyday expenditures made by students, their families and friends, while providing local participating merchants an increased interaction with a growing base of loyal customers. Schools also benefit from a partnership with real estate agents that are selected to be School Specialists, who as trusted leaders in their community, willingly contribute their time and resources for this positive cause.

Long-time Sacramento resident and community volunteer, Pam Dahl, is spearheading the new program, a first of its kind in California. She has had the opportunity to be associated with many local schools through the attendance of her children and grandchildren.

“Having seen how the education cuts have greatly affected the Sacramento region, I saw a need for a program like Learning Point Rewards in our community,” said Pam Dahl, Sacramento Learning Point Rewards Regional Executive Director. “Not only is the program designed to help with school funding needs, it also develops relationships with local merchants to help them promote their own business within their community.”

Schools from K-12 can sign up at no cost to receive free membership cards. Learning Point Rewards is unlike traditional fundraisers, such as sales of wrapping paper, cookie dough and magazines, which often have an initial cost of time and money to parents and their children. Students and their families do not have to sell anything but rather simply present their membership cards at participating merchants when purchasing goods or services, resulting in a portion of each transaction going back to the school.

Students also benefit by earning points that can then be redeemed for personal prizes, and best of all, family and friends can also contribute by shopping with any of the registered merchants—a definite win-win for everyone!

For participating merchants, the program provides a competitive advantage for their business. They are recognized in the community for supporting education and in turn have the ability to benefit from the Learning Point Rewards’ marketing promotions including the official Web site, program e-mails and exclusive events.

The launch of Learning Point Rewards program in Sacramento brings this new and developing program to California, and it comes with proof of success in Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho and Utah. Five other states - Arizona, Virginia, Nevada, Michigan and Washington - are also in the process of launching the program.

“It’s too early to see how much money schools will take in,” said Jay Taylor, President of Learning Point Rewards. “But it has the potential to change the way education gets additional funding in our country.”

“Families spend millions of dollars every year on personal and household items,” said Dahl. “Now with the Learning Point Rewards program, these same purchases will provide schools with funding, students with rewards, and local business with loyal customers.”
