The GFWC Antelope-North County Women’s Club supports our veterans. This year Memorial Day will be celebrated on May 31st. This is a time to honor the sacrifices of our young men & women who have died while serving in the armed forces - freedom isn’t free. We should also honor those women and men who have been wounded and we should take care of them. We are lucky enough to have a 60-bed VA Medical Center in Rancho Cordova at the old Mather field Air Force Hospital. This medical center has 24 medical-surgical beds and other special care beds and a four room operating suite. This center offers a wide range of outpatient and diagnostic services.

The VA Medical Center has lots of opportunities for volunteers. Would you like to pick-up outpatients, volunteer at a desk giving out information or calling patients with reminders for their next visit? Check out www.northerncalifornia.va.gov/giving/ for the other ways you can personally volunteer at the Medical Center. The Center also needs magazines, books, coffee, condiments, new or gently used clothing and telephone cards. They especially need sweat pants and shirts, socks & under garments for the recovering patients to wear. Feel free to call the VA Medical Center to donate items and time at 916-366-5372
