Two local non-profit organizations, The ReUse People of America and The Sacramento Regional Conservation Corps are teaming up in cooperation with Sacramento County Waste Management to offer a 2-day training course in Deconstruction - the careful dismantling and salvaging of an unwanted house or structure that would normally be demolished and thrown away. Deconstruction is a growing sector of the rising green building industry. This training is open to all parties regardless of skill level or knowledge background.
General public and interested parties will gain valuable and marketable job training skills that will broaden their employability.
Contractors will gain an understanding and recognize the value of the ability to offer deconstruction as a part of their services, allowing their clients to benefit from sizable tax deductions gained through the donation of the materials salvaged from their deconstructed project.
Waste management/recycling professionals and public officials will increase their knowledge base of reuse and options available to promote responsible disposal and green public policy.
Architectural and Design Firms will recognize the enormous value to be gained by their clients, both financially and altruistically, through incorporating deconstruction into their plans.
