Can you believe winter is almost over. That means spring and summer are just around the corner! Children will soon be looking forward to a summer filled with swimming, day camp, field trips and new friends. Are you wondering what to do with your youngsters once summer arrives? The North Highlands Recreation and Park District offers a variety of programs and special events to keep you and your family busy.
The North Highlands Recreation and Park District offers an affordable and fun day camp experience for children in grades kindergarten through 6th. Under the supervision of experienced and well-trained staff, children will journey through a variety of exciting theme weeks as well as traditional camp activities, including field trips and swimming at the community pool. Parents can drop their children off as early as 7:00 a.m. and pick them up as late as 6:00 p.m.
One of the best ways to safeguard your child is to equip them with the ability to be safe in the water. The North Highlands Recreation and Park District is offering our Learn to Swim Program this summer for all ages, including adults. Each two week session, taught by our Red Cross Certified instructors, will teach your children to be safe in any aquatic environment. Registration will begin on April 26th, with sessions beginning June 7th. Additionally, we offer Recreational Swim, Lap Swim and Water Aerobics to fulfill all of your aquatic needs. For more information, please contact Christie at 332-7440, or drop by the North Highlands Recreation and Park District office located at 6040 Watt Avenue.
If organized sports interest you, the District has the answer. Youth basketball for boys and girls grades kindergarten to 12 begins April 12, as does Youth cheerleading. You Go Girl, our innovative sports program for young ladies, begins April 15. Junior Spikers Volleyball, an organized league for boys and girls grades 4 to 8 starts March 10. For you parents, the District offers organized leagues for adults in both Flag Football (March 7 – May 9) and Basketball (League dates: TBA).
