Summer trips are fast approaching with the nice weather finally arriving.
NOT FOUND: what do i need.jpgMany parents are headed outdoors or on day outings with their kids which is lots of fun unless you aren't prepared. Here are some sample outings and > what might be handy to have with you, just in case there is an emergency or you like to have the necesitties.
In general if you are headed anywhere with kids, there are essentuals that can be kept ready to go at a moments notice in a plastic container, with size depending on how detailed you get. To start out with its good to have sunscreen, bug repellent, bandaids (or a small first aid kit is even better), diaper wipes (great for everything sticky or just to clean your hands), blanket, umbrella for rain or shade, camera, water, and snacks.
The container can be kept in the garage or other storage area ready to go when you decide to venture out. If you repack it when you get home it is always ready. You can even get creative and have theme containers for different day trips.
A picnic in the park is a fun easy first trip of the year. In addition to the basic items mentioned previously here are some suggestions for the park: bee sting kit (available at local drugstore), tweezers, wasp spray (keep away from food), a towel (in case of a fall, it can be used to sling an > arm), and on the lighter side bubbles, a kite, or a frisbee.
A day at the beach or lake provides wet and cool fun. Be sure to have life jackets on kids even if they know how to swim. Sunblock is a must when you are outdoors and near water. Reapply often to avoid sunburn. If a sunburn does occur, real live aloe vera plant is the best for relief and healing.
First aid supplies are handy for injuries resulting from stepping on glass or other objects on shore. An ice chest with ice packs are great for if you take a fall or sprain an ankle.
A day at the waterpark or theme park provides a different challenge.
Keeping cell phones dry and safe or a camera safe is easily acheived if you get ziplock plastic bags and drop them in. Make sure they are closed properly and viola, no more wet electronics. Hand santizer is great to have for washing up without water.
It is so much easier to be spontaneous with your kids if you can do a little planning ahead. There is no way to be prepared for every possible scenario that can go wrong but anticipating common occurances can be done. It makes it more fun and less stress, and who doesn't want that.
