Through a generous donation from Heald College and the Sacramento Sheriff’s Toy Project, the Academy now has a fully operational computer lab. Eight students from the Technology Department at Heald College, the Network Engineer, and the Director of Technology arrived at CAA on Friday, May 15 with 25 refurbished Pentium 4 computers, keyboard, flat screen monitors, and mice and installed the lab. Students at CAA were amazed and excited about technology that will now be available to them. California Aerospace Academy is a small 7-12 grade school that emphasizes aviation, aerospace, and engineering throughout its curriculum. With the tight budget constraints that are affecting all of California’s schools, it has been a struggle to provide students with the necessary technology needed for projects and research. With the addition of this lab, students will now be able to engage in computer programming, CAD, and other engineering programs. According to Mrs. Bremer, principal of the Academy, “this is a dream come true”. Students and staff alike are ready and eager to take advantage of the wonderful donation.
