Foothill Oaks Elementary Principal Kelli Hanson was thrilled the day she received a call from the Sacramento Metro Fire Department. They explained they had been participating in a book drive and asked if the school could use books for the library.
On Friday, December 2nd at 10:00 a.m., the department delivered 800 books to Foothill Oaks students and provided tours of their fire trucks to students. Teachers and students created handmade cards and posters for the firemen who seemed genuinely touched by their gratitude.
School staff were thrilled with the generous donation. āIām so glad they thought of our school and are donating books to help us with our plan to increase reading enthusiasm with our students,ā said Hanson.
