Country Club Lions Club of North Highlands presented the Army & Air Force Exchange Service a plaque for being so generous to allow the Lions Club use of the McClellan Base Exchange as a location for recycle containers to collect used eye glasses and hearing aids. They are sent to Folsom Prison to be refurbished.
Over 1 Billion pairs of glasses have been collected and processed through The Folsom Project at Folsom Prison where they are cleaned, reconditioned, re-prescriptioned, categorized by prescription and prepared for distribution by Lions Clubs throughout the world. The Base Exchange recycle bin alone collected over 320,000 pairs of those glasses.
