Adopted Map Will be Sent to County Committee for Review

Sacramento, CA – At their December 13, 2011 Board meeting, the Twin Rivers Unified School District Board of Trustees, after considering public comments and the prior feedback that they received from the Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) Board of Education, approved on a 5 to 2 vote, a trustee redistricting plan.

The redistricting map that was adopted by the Twin Rivers Unified School District Board of Trustees is the same Alternate Community Plan map that Mr. Derrell Roberts, who represented members of the community, brought forth at the regular SCOE Board of Education meeting held on November 1, 2011 and also proposed at the November 8, 2011 Sacramento County Committee on School District Organization (the “County Committee”) meeting.

After having had the opportunity to carefully review the proposed Alternative Community Plan map, and having the map analyzed by the District’s legal counsel and demographer, it was clear that this plan best adheres to the Board-adopted redistricting criteria and preserved historical communities of interest.

The Twin Rivers Unified School District’s Board appreciates and celebrates the community feedback and participation in the process of developing these new trustee areas that are in compliance with the 2010 Census data. The adopted map will be sent to County Committee for their review and action in January 2012.
