NOT FOUND: gfwc.jpgGFWC Antelope-North County Women’s Club wants everyone to give the gift of a health check-up as a part of your Valentine gifts. Nothing could be a better present than knowing that your loved one has a healthy heart. More women die from heart related problems than men each year. This is Women’s National Heart Healthy Month. Friday February 4th is National Wear Red Day. In support of heart health awareness, please wear red all day. We hope to see a blanket of red all day on Friday, February 4th. Check out www.goredforwomen.org for more information.
You may be approached by a neighbor asking for a donation for the American Heart Association, or you may get a request signed by a neighbor asking for a donation. This is a new twist on an old campaign and it is called “Dear Neighbor”. This is a way to help raise money for research and help for people with heart disease. If everyone gave just a dollar or more, we could have millions to spend on heart research.
It is surprising how many of your neighbors have been touched by stroke or heart disease. I remember my neighbor from across the street had a young daughter born with heart issues and the Heart Association helped this young couple to care for the girl. It is not only the older members of our community, but it could be the youngest members who also need the help that comes from the research paid for by the Heart Association. Remember to have your heart checked by a medical professional; it’s a great Valentines gift.
