NOT FOUND: fit for golf.jpgWith all of the fitness centers that are available as a golfer we should be taking advantage of the expertise that trainers have to help you with your golf game. One of the things that can be a cause for concern is knowing what movements your body is capable of performing. You need to know this as well as your golf instructor if you have had an injury or if there are certain parts of your body that are unable to do what they need to do in the golf swing. The parts to be concerned about are ankles, knees, hip joints, your BACK, elbows, and wrists. These are the smaller, more subtle parts that you need to be aware of. One of the first things your golf instructor should find out about a student is if they have any issues concerning these parts. However, just because you might have weak wrists or bad knees, doesn't mean you can't play golf.

There are so many ways that people have figured out how to strike a golf ball. We just need to know what your body can do. If we don't know and assume you are 100% with no problems, and there are, we could end up having you do something that your body can't do, possibly causing injury. This is why we recommend going to a fitness center or your doctor and get these things checked out. Going to a fitness center will also help you in many ways. There is more to going to the gym than just to lift weights and get in shape. This is important, but doing things like improving your balance, agility, stability and flexibility will greatly enhance how you perform on the golf course.

Posture is important because it involves your back. There are three different types of posture, a) the C posture, b) the S posture, and c) neutral posture. The C posture will look like your shoulders are very rounded and hunched over. Avoid the C posture. The S posture is when you curve your lower spine too much and it feels very stiff. Try to avoid this one too. A neutral posture is when the spine forms almost a straight line from the lower spine up to the shoulders with a slight curve at the shoulders. If you go to the internet and type in golf fitness/posture, you will get some good photos of the correct posture.

Know what your body can do and you will be able to do more for your golf game!!
