Center Jr Cougars Jr. Midgets vs. the Undefeated Union Mine Jr Rattlers Jr. Midgets
NOT FOUND: jr cougars1.jpgHead Coach Jeremy Figueroa, better known as Coach Fig, leads the CJC Jr. Midget team with a 3-2 record. Enough to face the Monterey Trails Jr Mustangs in playoffs with an awesome win of 27-7. As a coach for nine years, Coach Fig has never been to the playoffs or a title game. Going into the Championship game there would be nothing he would do differently. He continues to say players were well conditioned and well coached, maybe just a little bit too excited. Of course, that is expected from a group of kids and coaches who came from the bottom and rose to the top to be in a Championship game.
NOT FOUND: jr cougars2.jpgCoach Fig says, “The season started slow but with a couple of minor changes kicked us into a playoff hunt, then to the Championship. I am so proud of everyone of these players. They gave 100% every practice and every game. I would not have been able to do it by myself. My thanks to my buddy and Co-Head Coach, Vic, for not only putting up with me but also with 27 players. Its not easy getting the job done with only two coaches. I want to thank God for guiding our Cougar family (JM Team) to a great season and keeping our kids healthy with no injuries. Also a special thank you to the parents for all their dedication and time. Last but not least thank you to Coach Harvey and Coach Alex for coming out and helping us for the championship game.”
On Sunday, November 7th, Championship Game Day the CJC Jr Midgets walked off the field with a loss of 30-6. However, with the bad weather the kids played their hearts out and left it all on the field. The trophy may read 2nd place, but in the little city of Elverta, these 27 talented Center Jr Cougars Jr Midget players are Champions at Heart.
