NOT FOUND: lunch bunch.jpgThink of an informal get together of a group of individuals who have a vested interest in the success of their communities. They've met about the graffiti problems on Watt avenue, the struggles, the closing and the working to get it open again, of Gibson Ranch in Elverta, all the upcoming events for our local schools and so much more. They don't just meet and complain about the problems in the community, they put their minds and resources together to come up with feasible solutions. They also bring in different perspectives of community happenings through various speakers at each meeting.
Currently spearheaded by Keith Webber, the group has been in existence over 30 years. At this once a month meeting, you can pass out your business cards, your community event announcements, anything really that you would want people to know about. It's a great place to not just network for your business, but to build and establish relationships with the people who live, work , and play in the communities we serve.
I've been there when the whole group applauded as Terrie Hunt with River Ridge Realty was given an award from Rubies Baskets. Terrie is not one who tries to put herself in the spotlight. It just naturally happens because she is one of many generous contributors to the many causes of the community. I've also been there when they continually honor Lola Warrick because she has been important in establishing many of the things that North Highlands and Antelope residents and many others enjoy today, such as the North Highlands -Antelope Library. Lola has been and continues to be a key voice to guide a younger generation in having a vision for making things better for our community.
The Lunch Bunch stories are many. They warm your heart and remind you that there are people out there who are doing all they can to help and make a difference for a multitude of people.
While you are getting up to date information about the community you live in, you will learn about where the people have come from, and where they are going.
It's like a family, and once you come, everyone will know your name before you leave and remember you when you come back. Come and find out for yourself!
