County can no longer absorb merchant fees.
Sacramento, Calif., -- Effective March 22, customers using credit cards to purchase Sacramento County services, such as building permits, will be charged a fee of 2.5% of total transaction cost. As an example, a building permit that costs $100 will run customers an additional $2.50.
Typical services include encroachment permits, impact fees, maintenance fees, vehicle damage reimbursements and building permits. The fees apply to any services purchased at:
· Downtown County offices at 827 7th Street
· Bradshaw offices at 4101 Branch Center Road
· East Service Center at 5229-B Hazel Avenue
· North Service Center at 6015 Watt Avenue, Suite 4, North Highlands
“We absolutely hate to increase any customer fees right now, but we can’t afford to absorb these costs anymore,” said Steve Pedretti, Director of County Engineering.
Accepted credits cards include American Express, Discover and MasterCard; Visa is not accepted. Credit cards can be used when purchasing miscellaneous simple permits online or in when doing business in person.
