NOT FOUND: weight loss challenge.jpgOh what a night! The 2nd Community Weight Loss Challenge (WLC) has begun!
People from North Highlands, Antelope, Foothill Farms, Rio Linda, Elverta, Folsom, Roseville and many more cities all over Sacramento came together to begin a quest to find out who will be the next Community Weight Loss Challenge Champion! The winner will take home over $500 in cash and prizes!
Local businesses such as Bel Air in Antelope, Wal-Mart, Fitness 19, Curves, The North Sac News, Great Clips, Family Community Church and many more have jumped on board to help promote this great Community event.
With well over 100 people in attendance the air was thick with anticipation. After participants were weighed, measured and photographed for the competition, everyone sat through the first of 12 health and nutrition sessions that are required in order to participate in the Challenge. Every week there will be a different topic covered that is designed to help the participants maximize their weight loss and take steps to keep it off.
There was a great feeling of community as people realized that they were not alone in fighting the battle of losing unwanted weight. The youngest participant of the group is only 12 years old, and the oldest is over 60. While the cash and goods are a great incentive, the majority of the people simply wanted to make a positive change for the New Year.
Participants who lose weight from week to week are entered into weekly drawings. Prizes include haircuts, grocery gift cards, clothing gift cards, gym memberships and more. The Grand Prizes which are awarded at the end of the 12 weeks include: $1000 in cash to the top 3 weight loss losers, a $200 shopping spree, a free wash and wax, a year of gym memberships and various other gift cards!
The WLC is still accepting participants for the challenge. You can log on to their website for more information or to register at www.sacramentogetthin.com or you can call 916-225-1234.
The North Sac News is proud to be a sponsor for this great event and will be covering this event for the next 12 weeks. We look forward to sharing the success of the participants during this challenge.
