Starting in April of 2010, Nor Cal Womens Fastpitch Softball (NCWFS) will launch its first league. Initially it was hoped that some 90 women could be found to play, but over 150 have already expressed interest. Now it is believed that there are over 250-300 women in the greater Sacramento area who will want to return to the sport of their youth.
NCWFS teams will play double headers weekly for eight weeks, with playoffs the following week. The league will be affiliated with GSSA/ASA, utilize ASA umpires and play on local fields dependent upon the total number of teams enrolled. There will be a scrimmage/clinic at the Sacramento Softball Complex located at Watt Avenue and Business 80 on Sunday, September 20, between 1:00-5:00pm. All players who are eligible to play in the league are welcome to join us and play some ball. Players must be at least 18 years of age as of April 1, 2010. Sponsors are being sought for teams and individuals. The league is looking to locate all of the women players who might be interested in playing fastpitch softball once again.
