womens_club.jpgThe General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC), Antelope-North County Women’s Club wishes to thank everyone who stopped by to visit us at the Lions Parking Lot sale last month. We had a great response and sold lots of books to help fund our current and future projects. We loved talking to everyone and we hope you will make it to our library event on October 24.

The October event will start at 1:30pm. We will have a speaker on breast cancer awareness and will be collecting items for the Citrus Heights Women’s Shelter. The shelter has asked for baby supplies such as diapers, clothes and food. The Antelope Curves will take donations too.

As you may be aware, we have already had some awful fires this year in California. Land that has been burned will recoup faster when tiny pine trees are planted. This is a project our club, and over 400 other women’s clubs in California, have been working on since the USDA started Penny Pines Program over sixty-eight years ago in 1941. While there are other programs to reforest public lands, the Penny Pines Program is unique to California. Almost every National Forest in the State has a Penny Pines plantation area. The program helps people to understand how important conservation and good management are to our forests.
