In honor of Disaster Preparedness month, the Sacramento Metro Fire Community Emergency Response Team will be hosting a mock evacuation, sheltering and disaster preparedness drill on Saturday, September 19, from 9:00am-3:00pm. Everyone in the community is invited and encouraged to attend. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, located at 3621 Elverta Road in Antelope, has generously offered their location as the site for this event.
The disaster scenario will include a large flood with significant damage to multiple areas of the county; North Highlands, Rio Linda, Elverta and Antelope. All participants will experience what it’s like to evacuate to a shelter during a disaster. Once inside the shelter, disaster preparedness training will be offered, including how to prepare yourself and your family for a disaster, sandbagging, basic first aid techniques and pet safety. Everyone will walk away with valuable, life-saving information.
Come and learn how to prepare and protect yourself, your family and your community before, during and after a disaster. President Obama has asked that we get back into our communities and volunteer and here is your chance to unite and make a difference.
