Come join the fun by celebrating Highlands High School’s 50th Anniversary Gala, September 20, at Highlands Academy of Arts & Design (formerly Highlands High) in North Highlands. This is a free community event that is sponsored by the Highlands High School Alumni Association, Twin Rivers School District (formerly Grant Joint Unified School District), and Highlands Academy of Arts and Design.
The Gala starts at 3:00 p.m. with having an open campus. You’ll be able to wander the halls, reminisce about the good ole’ days and possibly run into a classmate or two. There will be classic cars and vehicles of interest for you to feast your eyes on. Memorabilia from various graduating classes that you can browse through, and a short DVD presentation depicting all 50 years will play in the little theater.
The Fairfield High School marching bagpipe band will kick-off the main event at 6:30 p.m. in the Highlands’ Bowl. We’ll then hear from Roger Dickenson, Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, Frank Porter, Superintendent of the Twin Rivers School District, and Daryl Sullivan, President of the Highlands High Alumni Association. There’s more, but you’ll have to attend to find out.
If you want a snack or two, local vendors will be available during the entire event.
If you are interested in representing your class at one of the Alumni tables and/or have a classic car or interesting vehicle you want to show off, contact Phil Olson at pgo111@sbcglobal.net or 916-412-7318.
There will be a no-host social ($10 a person) after the Gala at the Red Lion Inn, Sacramento, starting at 9:00 p.m. Appetizers will be served. Please RSVP by calling Sandra Lansdon Cooper at 530 758-9161 or emailing her at newsletter@highlandshighalumni.com
