NOT FOUND: firemen & ice cream.jpgThe North Highlands Optimist Club and the North Highlands Recreation & Park District are having a fun event for kids of all ages. The Ice Cream social is Saturday, October 3, at the North Highlands Recreation & Park District at 6040 Watt Ave. from 11:00am to 2:00pm. This is a great way for kids of all ages to meet the local cops and other first responders. Members from local agencies will be there; these include the Sacramento County Sheriff Department, the California State Highway Patrol, the US Coast Guard and the Sacramento Metro Fire Department. This will be a wonderful way for your children to meet these men and women. What a great way to get to know the people who are most likely to respond to an emergency and to have them get to know you!
There will be fun and games, and of course ice cream. Come and "dress-a-bear", get your face painted and free finger printing. There will also be displays and demonstrations by the first responders. The ice cream is for everyone and only cost $5.00 per person, and it’s all you can eat! You can also purchase hot dogs, chips and soda. So come have lunch and have a great dessert too.
Some of the other sponsors are Safetyville USA, the Rio Linda/ Elverta Lions Club and the Rio Linda Chamber of Commerce. For more information, contact Dee Beddo at 916-334-9468 or Julie Black at 916-208-7035.
