Elkhorn Farmers Market has been at the NE corner of Watt and Elkhorn every Saturday since July 11th. We want to thank all our loyal customers who come back regularly and always find some fruit, vegetables or flowers and friendly conversation to start their day. We appreciate the many words of encouragement, the “thank you for bringing the market here” and the helpful suggestions that have been presented to us. We are equally grateful for our loyal vendors, who toil all week to bring their harvest to the market.

EFM is run by a small group of volunteers who worked nearly two years to get the market up and running. We arrive between 6:30 and 7:00 every Saturday morning to set up the test, tables, signs, information booth, etc. and prepare for our vendors to arrive with their freshly picked produce. The growers are eager to please and are willing to answer questions about the food they so lovingly nurture in their local gardens and farms.

We are currently looking for growers who have nuts, citrus, apples, squash, pumpkins or other fall produce to join us for October. If your crops are ready for harvest, drop by on Saturday to talk with us, call (916) 599-7985 or download an application at www.elkhornfarmersmarket.com .

Elkhorn Farmers Market will be open through October and will be back at our current location between Long John Silver’s and Auto Zone in April 2010. If you are interested in being part of our bigger and better market next season, please let us know. We can assist you in the certification process and guide you in setting up your booth at the Elkhorn Farmers Market.

We will continue to have open general meetings during the winter months at the Neighborhood Service Center at 6015 Watt Avenue on the third Wednesdays of each month at 12:00 noon. Interested farmers, gardeners, customers and local residents are welcome to attend. Your ideas and questions will be accepted with pleasure.
