I went to the most wonderful event this past weekend and I want to tell everyone about it. It was a Wine, Art, & Jazz Show at the Rio Linda Community Center. I never imagined that there was so much talent and class in my little farming community. There was artwork ranging from beautifully detailed oil and pastel flowers to whimsical pigs with eyelashes and shovels made into quirky people. The potter had the most interesting pieces each of which had a unique feature from difficult to make details to a clown with his tongue sticking out at the admirer. There was even a gentleman carving decoys that he and his wife added beautifully painted features to.
The jazz artists ranged from folksy to very sophisticated and provide subtle entertainment for about 300 people over the course of the evening. I did not stay for the entire time, but I hear that some of my neighbors started to dance toward the end. The music was a nice complement to the Redwood Creek wine samples that my friends Leann and Shelli were serving. Redwood Creek is Shelli's favorite so she asked them to donate four cases and they did. Thank you Redwood Creek! Everyone seemed to be having a wonderful evening. I sure did, and I did not have to leave my wonderful little town of Rio Linda to do so.
