NOT FOUND: redmonds1.jpgNow is the time to prepare your garden for a fabulous crop next year, according to Gregg Redmond, owner of Redmond’s Landscape Materials. Gregg not only offers some great “green” advice on how to do that, but also supplies the materials to assist you. Gregg says you simply take broken down cardboard boxes or old newspapers and lay them out across your garden, then cover that with shredded cedar and leave it throughout the winter months. The cedar will deter bugs and other pests while creating a wonderful environment for earthworms which will enrich your soil. Then in the spring, just rototill the cardboard/paper, along with the cedar, right into the soil. It’s a great way to recycle your otherwise unwanted cardboard and/or newspapers.
In addition to shredded cedar, Redmond’s Landscape Materials supplies roadbase and gravel to prepare unpaved roads and driveways for the rainy season. November is the best time to get your property ready for the wet months ahead. Redmond’s also supplies horse bedding, a muck buster called Forest Fiber that consists of heavy wood shavings which can also be used for things such as muddy job sites.
Located at 3316 Elkhorn Blvd. in North Highlands, Redmond’s has been serving our communities and beyond – as far away as the Bay Area, Reno and all points in between – since 1993. Redmond’s supplies landscape materials in bulk to landscape companies as well as end-user consumers. They cater to the local schools and churches, offering discounts not only to the church, but also to the individual members of the church. Discounts are also offered on orders of large loads of materials. They are available to help you determine what type of product will best suit your needs; as well as make sure you get the right amount of that product. Whether you are purchasing a small amount of landscape material or a transfer truck load, Redmond’s is able to make sure you get what you need, when you need it. They offer delivery service, most times within 24 hours. Redmond’s can also deliver and install sod and weed barrier products.
Redmond’s Landscape Materials cares about our community and our country. Gregg Redmond’s background is in concrete. When a local construction company was hired to build the border fence between Tecate, CA and Tijuana, Mexico, Gregg was brought in as a consultant. The terrain where the border fence is built is too rugged for standard ready mixer trucks to get through, so Gregg Redmond designed specialized trucks that were able to handle the rough terrain and carry all of the dry and wet products (rock, sand, cement, water and admixtures) on board. The materials were then able to be mixed instantly when the concrete crew was ready to use them. The standard ready mix trucks would have lost a large portion of the load before ever reaching the placement location because of the steepness of the terrain. The border fence is built through the canyon areas across the border that had previously been used by the Cartel for drug trafficking.
