A big thank you to Pastor Bill Ellis of the Zion Lutheran Church for hosting a Domestic Violence Training for the leadership. There were five churches represented in the training and a number of members of the congregation.
This training was made possible through a State Grant, awarded in January 2009, to Antelope Upper Room Ministry, Pastor Juanita Mason. The grant was to have Faith Leaders support A Healthy Relationship Model church for their congregants.
We asked that the leader: Commit to one or all of the following to be a Healthy Relationship Model Church.
-Posting of a Safe Sanctuary Statement
-Preach a Sermon toward loving one another
-Allow DV 101 training of the leaders and teens
-Have referral resources available
-During Premarital Counseling address the issue Commemorate Domestic Violence Month in October
