Sacramento—When voters passed Measure B last November, they decided to create a new unified district to serve North Area students. The new district sought community input in deciding the name for the new district in January and received an overwhelming 500 plus submissions that eventually led to the decision to call the new district “Twin Rivers Unified School District.”

District officials went back to the community to seek input in the logo for Twin Rivers USD. They were not disappointed in the response. Thanks to community members, students, and staff, Twin Rivers USD had more than 140 logo options to choose from.

“We’d like to thank everyone who participated in our Logo Contest,” said Interim Superintendent Frank Porter. “Our Board of Trustees is committed to engaging our community as we develop our new district and our logo contest was just one of many ways we are doing just that.”

A panel of communication professionals, parents, students, classified staff, teachers, and community partners from the unifying districts joined together for the tough task of choosing a winner. It was a difficult decision, and took several rounds of voting to get to just the right option. The final choice was submitted by John Walton, community member and editor of the North Highlands News. The logo was brought to the Twin Rivers Board of Trustees in their last meeting where it was approved unanimously. Twin Rivers USD plans to save each of the logo ideas submitted as part of the history of the new district.
