Construction on the new Antelope High School is nearly complete, and the school is scheduled to begin instruction for the 2008-2009 school year. The first year, beginning this August, will be for 9th and 10th grades only. The school will be part of the Roseville Joint Union High School District. The curriculum will include among others subjects, a state of the art science lab, a fully funded Nike Sports program, and a drama program, to include theatre and music. Students will enjoy their new athletic fields, which will also be utilized by Sunrise Parks and Recreation.
The school sits on 40 acres of land south of Elverta Road, and there are 173,347 square feet of school building space. Construction on the school has cost an estimated $74 million, but for the lucky students who will enjoy the aesthetics and functionality of the new campus, it is worth every penny.
Students in the 10th and 11th grade who are in the Antelope High School attendance area will continue to attend Oakmont High School, while the younger students will begin at Antelope High this fall. Students who will attend Antelope High School are residents of Sacramento County who live East of Walerga Road and North of Antelope Road. For complete attendance details, you can view the map at www.rjuhsd.k12.ca.us/boundaries.
The school is fully staffed, and is head up by John Becker, former principal of Roseville Joint Union High School District West Campus in south Sacramento. Together with faculty and staff, Principal Becker is preparing to begin assisting area students in achieving their individual educational goals, with several tailored education plans which include a 4-year University track.
