Yeah, I know Valentines is over. I hit the 50% off candy aisle and filled up my candy drawer at home. Valentine’s Day is not all about dinner, roses and the candy is it? I have been married six and a half years and only once have we done anything for Valentine’s. So, where am I going with this, you may ask. Well, what are you doing March 14 and April 14 (aside from your taxes)?

Being in any relationship takes work so why not do something for each other once a month. You can have ten Valentine's days throughout 2009. Little things are what make it big for me; a walk holding hands, surprising me with flowers, my favorite food/ snack, receiving a text /email or getting a card in the mail. Recently, my husband and I took our three young children to Chuck E. Cheese and we got caught up with a basketball game that kept us busy throwing hoops against each other for thirty minutes. We were having fun together and that’s what counts - being with each other. So, get out of your box and look at your calendar. Circle in red one date each month for the next ten months. Make it a priority to get out and do something together. It doesn’t have to be expensive or cheap, just do something to keep your spark alive. Open up your favorite drink of bubbly and watch one of the movies below, or jump in your car and go for a drive to a new destination. Bring your favorite sing-a-long CD’s and enjoy each others company.
