The Faith Baptist Tabernacle, located at 3501 Q Street here in North Highlands, celebrated its 50th Anniversary on May 18, 2008. The church was founded by a group of believers led by Pastor Clyde White. The congregation of Faith Babtist Tabernacle had a desire for the gospel to go out in the then newly growing area surrounding McClellan AFB. At that time, the name of this new fellowship was the Highlands Conservative Baptist Church.

After meeting in two or three storefronts, the church moved to its present six acre site. The two original church buildings are actually old Army classrooms brought up from the Bay Area and put back together on a concrete foundation. The present auditorium was built in 1968 while Pastor Bob Lehn led the congregation. The church's name was changed in the mid-80’s to the Faith Baptist Tabernacle. The present Pastor, Mike Rodgers, has been at FBT for over seventeen years.

Two men were honored for their longevity at Faith: Everett Buckler and Earl Rainbolt. Both have been with the church since its beginning. In the afternoon the church enjoyed a tri-tip barbeque. Pastor Ed Johnson from Rosemount, MN, was the speaker in the special services that went from Sunday through Tuesday.

Faith Baptist is an independent, fundamental Baptist church that sings the great hymns of the faith. This church stands for the love of God to man as seen in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, as well as the authority of the Bible. Salvation by faith alone in Jesus Christ is the church’s core conviction. Faith Baptist identifies with the Apostle Paul who told the church at Corinth in 2 Cor. 4:5: “For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.”

The church counts it a great joy to be a part of the North Highlands community. The Pastor and people are excited to know that God’s faithful promises and salvation are still there for all, and America can still be the land of the free through Christ who sets us free.
