Northminster Presbyterian Church awarded two Grant Union High School seniors, Francisco Corella and Brianna Parker, $800 each to recognize their efforts to further peace and reconciliation in the school, church and community. This is the first time that Northminster had two recipients from the same school. According to church officials, Northminster has given one or two awards annually to outstanding area high school students to encourage peacemaking among local youths.

Francisco Corella plans a career in law enforcement. He believes that, "By using conflict resolution techniques and diplomacy, police officers can do much to foster peace in society." Francisco has completed over 300 hours of Community Service and is a member of the Sacramento Police Youth Advisory Committee. He is currently organizing cleanup efforts on Del Paso Boulevard and has been Captain of the Criminal Justice Academy at Grant High School where he led 175 students in community service events.
