Sierra View Elementary is a Kindergarten through sixth grade campus of the Rio Linda Union School District, and is located at 3638 Bainbridge Drive in North Highlands. The principal of the school is John Bagget. The stories from his students discuss many of the recent activities happening around the school: from the wonderful painting of the volunteers to beautify the campus, to the after-school program, to the Running Club Big Race at Discovery Park and the new school garden. We were lucky enough to receive the support of community organizations like Hands On Sacramento who improved our playground and garden and businesses like Wells Fargo who funded our running program. Our students are happy to share their Sierra View experience with the readers of the North Highlands News.
Sierra View Special Stuff
by David Montes, Student
I’m going tell you guys the special interest about our school, lovely Sierra View Elementary. Here we have wonderful people at this school. You can do anything on the playground, but don’t forget there are some rules.
We have basketball courts that are yellow and blue, I think those are wonderful colors. We also have a library with lots of books. We also have some authors who actually come to our school. We also have computers so you can use it for a project. You can’t forget our teachers you know. If it wasn’t for them, we would not learn anything. Out garden is beautiful with all the flowers that we grow. You can’t forget the tomatoes. Hmmm, mmmm, yummy in my tummy.
There’s also a running club called "Running Wild." I show up every Wednesday and run as wild as I want. Every year there is a "Big Fantastic Race." It’s one mile, but the thing I like is that I just run for fun.
Why I Like Sierra View
by Joshua Osborne, Student
I like Sierra View because they have very nice playgrounds, great teachers, and more things kids need to learn. They have nice basketball hoops also a nice field for soccer. It’s a fun school with great people to meet. We also have good classrooms, and an office with people who can help you in your time of need.
We also have an after-school program where we can do our homework before we go home at 6 p.m. Before we get to play, we have to do our homework and we can’t make a lot of noise when we do our homework or we have to put our head down. We have a great snack and if you are done with your homework, you get to play and it’s a lot of fun. We play football, basketball, or any kind of sport. When it’s time to go, we clean up the cafeteria and wait for our parents to come. While we wait, we can play at the playground and its fun.
All About My School
by Rauyn Cruz, Student
I’m going to tell you about my school. It has lots of fun activities like basketball, soccer, jump rope, even a talent show and running club. All of these things you can do here. My school’s name is Sierra View Elementary and our Mascot is the Hornets. What I really like about my school is the basketball area. It is colored yellow and blue.
We have a wonderful principal and teachers. They do all kinds of stuff, fun stuff. After school, we also learn. In START program, they help you read and do your homework. The teachers are nice too. Not only that, but we get free time on Thursdays and Fridays.
So come to Sierra View and you could have fun and be like us.
My Favorite Things at Sierra View
by Madelon Brooks, Student
I like the painting on the ball wall, it brightens up the school playground. People are really enjoying the basketball hoops because of the red, white and blue hoops nets. Also, we were surprised when we came back to our school after that weekend because of what the school volunteers have done to the school playground.
I also like the running club. Today at the running club was fun because when the fifth graders ran, I got to the finish line fourth out of the girls and the boys. My brother was second place. I wouldn’t care if I were to get last place because it isn’t a competition of who gets first, second, or third place, it is to have fun.
I also like my after-school teacher, Mrs. Kennedy. She is a very terrific teacher. When the kids are acting up, she let’s them know to be quiet.
