Tamera Young of North Highlands is the mother of one eight year old daughter. She has been living in the area for more than 11 years, but has only recently come into the spotlight as a confectioner with what some people are calling "the perfect candy." Tamera makes a handmade pecan caramel candy that is out of this world! Whether or not you like pecans or caramel, you are sure to enjoy this candy. Personally, I’m not a fan of pecans, but I’ve been telling everyone I can about these caramels. They are fantastic! They don’t stick to your teeth, and are just the right mix of chewy and crunchy.
Tamera uses a family recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation for 150 years. She has personally been making the candies for the past 18 years after she discovered the recipe while going through family items with her mother. The original recipe did not call for pecans, but Tamera added them in an effort to keep the candies from sticking to the pans. It was successful, so the perfect combination of caramel and nuts was born.
