The Sacramento Rescue and Restore Victims of Human Trafficking Coalition have
recently received federal funds to develop and implement a program that will assist
human trafficking victims.
The Sacramento Employment and Training Agency (SETA) Refugee Services will
operate this program in collaboration with local organizations, Opening Doors, Inc., My
Sister’s House and WEAVE. The human trafficking program will:
• Create public awareness about how to identify a human trafficking victim
• Provide emergency services to human trafficking victims
• Promote the use of the anonymous hotline for victim services
Opening Doors Inc. will provide comprehensive short- and long-term case services for
human trafficking victims, as well as conduct outreach and community awareness
activities. My Sister's House will conduct outreach and community awareness activities
and assist in providing culturally appropriate services to Asian/Pacific Islander victims.
WEAVE will provide 24 hour emergency response to victims, law enforcement, service
providers and the community through its support and information line and team of first
responders who are trained to support traumatized victims. In addition WEAVE will
provide emergency shelter to victims including emergency transportation to obtain
medical care, food, and clothing.
“The greater Sacramento area is reaching a crucial juncture in terms of its ability to
identify and assist victims of human trafficking”, says Mary Jennings, coordinator for
Rescue & Restore Victims of Human Trafficking program. “This program will be able to
provide services to victims who need shelter, food, medical attention, and counseling”,
says Jennings.
For those who may suspect, know of, or are themselves a victim of human trafficking,
please call WEAVE at (916) 920-2952.
