Many of us have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) that is included in the benefits package offered to us by our employers. Were you aware that if you don’t use what you have contributed into that account by the end of the year, you stand a very good chance of losing any funds that remain? There is typically some amount of grace period to submit your receipts, but most FSA packages require that the services/items you are applying toward those funds be completed by December 31. It’s your money. Pre-taxed! You definitely don’t want to leave it on the table!
So … grab your FSA card and head down to 7471 Watt Ave., Suite 107A in North Highlands and see Olivia Rodrigues, DDS at Family Dentistry.
Dr. Rodrigues has been in this location within the Raley’s shopping center for more than 17 years, and is a huge supporter of the North Sacramento area communities. The office feels very peaceful – even just walking into the lobby. This combined with the doctor’s soft-spoken mannerisms are sure to put even the most dental-phobic (not sure that’s a word, but it works) person at ease. With an office that is “full of moms” – the doctor and her staff all have children of their own – it’s a great place to bring your young ones for their first dental check-ups, which should be done by the age of two or three. Some moms nowadays are taking their small toddlers in to get them used to the dentist as soon as they have some teeth. Many children develop severe teeth and gum problems before the age of one due to bottles, pacifiers and other such necessary parts of baby life. You can definitely call Dr. Rodrigues’ office and talk to her knowledgeable staff about this. The office also has a children’s room which is sure to put any wary youngster at ease.
Family Dentistry offers many extras to their patients that adults will appreciate as well, such as state-of-the-art diagnostic tools that allow the doctor to see hidden things in and on our teeth that aren’t visible with even the x-ray equipment that most of us are painfully familiar with! She also has these “intra-oral cameras” that allow patients to see what the doctor is doing in their mouth during the exam. And if that’s not cool enough for you: You can now get same-day service with Dr. Rodrigues if you require a crown. For those of you that are fortunate enough to not fully understand how awesome that is, it typically would take several trips to the dental chair to have a crown done – getting first a temporary crown while waiting for your permanent one to arrive from the palace in some far-off kingdom. Queen – or King, whichever the case may be – in a day!
They also offer heated neck pillows and CD players!! Almost makes you want to drop whatever you’re doing now and head on over, huh? While Dr. Rodrigues offers many creature comforts to put her patients at ease for what is sometimes a very stressful, painful experience; her main focus is to educate people about what is going on in their mouth. People tend to fight against things they don’t understand, and flossing daily is sometimes high on that list. However, if we understand its importance we’d be more apt to work it into our daily routine. Dr. Rodrigues strives to make sure the benefits of treatment versus no treatment are clearly outlined. General, as well as cosmetic dentistry – such as Invisalign® braces, teeth whitening and thin veneers – are offered at Family Dentistry.
Dr. Olivia Rodrigues has been a dentist for 28 years! (To look at her, it hardly seems possible, without her being a child prodigy and earning her degree at the age of 10.) However, she has documentation to backup her claims, as well as a son that is in his second year of dental school following in his mom’s footsteps. Her 13-year-old daughter has plans to be a veterinarian and has asked her mom to look into buying a large office building where mother, son and daughter can offer their services to the community from the same location. (Smart kid!) She was even a captain in the US Air Force as a dentist. Dr. Rodrigues, a past student at Highlands High School loves our community and is very proud to have her office here. She’s not going anywhere, so give her a call and schedule your appointment to improve your face value by improving your smile!
Think: heated neck pillows! Call today, go in before the end of the year and don’t forget your FSA card! Nothing says, “Happy New Year” like a dazzling, white smile; and knowing you’ve used your investments wisely! You can reach Dr. Rodrigues’ office at (916) 331-1211.
