River Valley Feed & Pet Supply has been around since the early 70’s, but has changed by leaps and bounds since that time. Currently owned and operated by the Reidenbacher Family, River Valley Feed & Pet Supply has steadily seen an increase in sales and profits. During this time when so many businesses have fallen on harder economic times, Kevin’s entrepreneurial spirit and desire to stay on the cutting-edge of his market seems to be having a positive effect as they are on track to again see increase over last year.
So what sets River Valley Feed & Pet Supply apart from the others? First and foremost is their drive to provide an excellent experience for each and every customer, on every visit. Genuine customer service like you will receive at River Valley Feed & Pet Supply isn’t found around every corner these days. While the store has the latest and greatest products from trendy pet-wear to jewelry for yourself (and so much in between for both animals and humans alike), the atmosphere is that of yester-year: when you went into a store and they knew you by name. River Valley Feed & Pet Supply delivers that small-town, “general store” feeling while at the same time offering specialty products such as “Chicken Soup for the Dog/Cat Lover’s Soul”- an all-natural pet food that comes in canned and dry varieties – and food for larger animals such as horses. Here, it all comes with a wealth of knowledge. The current customer base knows that Kevin and his team are knowledgeable about the industry and the products they sell. Keeping the customers completely satisfied and coming back again and again is the number one priority of Kevin and River Valley Feed & Pet Supply. Kevin says that while price is very important, having an excellent customer experience is even more so, as customers are drawn back consistently when they are treated well and given a fair deal.

In doing a price analysis on dry dog foods that are also offered at the larger chain pet supply stores and grocery stores, River Valley Feed & Pet Supply averages $3 - $5 less on most national brands. I found this to be a pleasant surprise. I’d often driven past River Valley Feed & Pet Supply, but hadn’t gone in because I was under the assumption that A: they only offered “feed” and B: they were probably priced too high on things that I might actually need or want to purchase. I was wrong on both accounts.
River Valley Feed & Pet Supply has something to offer each and every animal; as well as those who provide their care. Where else could you purchase a dog breed-specific designer key chain, a cat condo and a spray bottle of “Kicken Chicken” (a nutritional supplement for added energy and performance for your chickens) all at the same time? River Feed & Pet Supply truly is your one-stop-shop for pet supplies.
Customers have been able to rely on Kevin and River Valley Feed & Pet Supply to help them with even hard-to-find/one-of-a-kind products which is pretty rare these days. If he doesn’t have a particular product in stock, Kevin is willing to special order items for his customers. He has been known to stock a product on his shelf just because he has one customer that buys it. Now THAT’S what I call customer service! People drive from all over the greater Sacramento area to purchase their supplies from River Valley Feed & Pet Supply.
Another major difference that I noticed as soon as I walked in the door was the fact that River Valley Feed & Pet Supply is CLEAN. When you walk into the store, you are not bombarded with strong animal odors and the typical, overpowering smells that would accompany a store that offers the variety of products offered there. I had actually been in the building for almost an hour before I realized that there are animals: rabbits, small rodents and chicks in the store. I did hear the small birds chirping when I walked in, but I definitely didn’t smell them! That says a lot! The Reidenbach family – and their team of long-time employees – take pride in their business and it shows.
