Can you believe the summer is almost over and fall is just round the corner? Children will soon be returning to school while they look back on a summer filled with swimming, day camp, field trips and new friends. Are you wondering what to do with your youngsters once the summer winds down? The North Highlands Recreation and Park District offers a variety of programs and special events to keep you and your family busy.

If organized sports interest you, the District has the answer. Youth flag football for boys and girls grades kindergarten to six begins August 31, as does Youth cheerleading. You Go Girl, our innovative sports program for young ladies, begins September 3. Junior Spikers Volleyball, an organized league for boys and girls grades 4 to 8 starts up November 8. For you parents, the District offers organized leagues for adults in both Flag Football (September 20 – November 15) and Basketball (January 17 – March 7, 2010). Don’t forget our Co-Ed Power Volleyball league for adults. The next season begins August 24.

The busy fall season also means special events for the whole family to enjoy. The 8th annual North Highlands Jubilee is scheduled for October 17. The community is invited to our annual Halloween Bash and Costume Contest scheduled for October 30. To get you in the holiday spirit, we offer the North Highlands Arts and Crafts Fair December 5, followed by the annual Community Holiday Party on December 18.

In addition to all these exciting programs and events, the District also offers programs for seniors, dance and gymnastics classes for children, martial arts and much more. For information on these and other opportunities, contact the District office at 332-7440, or look for your complimentary copy of the Fall/Winter Activity Guide located inside this edition of the North Sac News (select North Highlands addresses only.
