NOT FOUND: eric 1.jpgNow, that’s a tasty burger! Although it may be a “pulp” movie quote it can sometimes be true regardless of the location of the food. Scotts Burger Shack is located at 4127 Franklin Boulevard (Franklin Boulevard and 19th Avenue in South Sacramento. The establishment is owned by Scott Hackett who’s father opened the establishment in 1982.
Scotts has an extensive menu consisting of burgers, hot sandwiches, subs, triple deckers and fried items like chicken nuggets, jalapeño poppers, mushrooms.
Other specials feature favorites like fish and chips, a sirloin steak sandwich, tacos and the traditional pastrami “Reuben” sandwich. Most of these items can be combined in combos and meal deals.
NOT FOUND: eric 2.jpgThe burgers, in my opinion are the reason to come to this establishment. You can order 23 different types of burgers with toppings such as pastrami, mushrooms, jalapenos and bacon. Scotts even serves “turkey” and “garden” burgers for those poor unfortunate souls not into beef.
But on to the main event…. The star of the menu is the “Fatboy” the Super Fatboy and THE TRIPLE FATBOY.
Now, this in the telling may not be intimidating so I’ll break it down for you. The Fatboy or single burger comes with a fresh ½ pound ground beef pattie from Del Monte Meat Co. in North Sacramento. That’s a half pound of beef, topped with bacon. Meat on meat! The Super Fatboy is a double cheeseburger, one pound of beef topped with Bacon. That’s meat on meat on meat. The Triple Fatboy (my hands are sweating) consists of three patties (a pound and a half of beef) and bacon. Everyone help me say it…Meat on meat on meat with bacon. This culinary classic is served on a fresh-baked hamburger bun from Bennet’s Bakery which is also local.
NOT FOUND: eric 3.jpgI had the Super Fatboy combo which came with more than enough French fries and an extra large drink for well under $10. When the order came, the bag was so full that I had to hold it with both hands. The burger came loaded with onions lettuce and tomato and although it was a huge burger to hold, it went down quite pleasantly. If you come here to eat, come hungry or bring a friend to split your order. The ambiance is not all that great as there is outside dining only on picnic tables in the parking lot beside the shack. But pick it up, take it in your car, eat it home, it doesn’t matter. If you like to eat a great tasting burger, you gotta try this place.
Directions: Coming from the North Highlands area take Business 80 to the 99 south exit. Take the 12th Avenue exit and turn right and travel about a block. Turn left on Franklin Boulevard and go about five blocks to 19th Avenue. Scotts Burger Shop is on the left hand side
