In times of limited budgets and rising costs, the service of AmeriCorps members in our schools could not be more helpful. During the past year, more than a dozen AmeriCorps members spent countless hours contributing to the success of students at one elementary school. That worked so well, they decided to give even more. On July 26, approximately 400 AmeriCorps members reported for duty at schools throughout our district to work on facilities, grounds, and other special projects as identified by our school and facilities staff.

“It was very generous of AmeriCorps to give our schools an entire day of service,” said Alan Colombo, assistant superintendent of facilities and maintenance. “They worked well with our staff to give our facilities a little extra care this summer.”
